When was the last time you were at work and did something really well and thought to yourself "I’m actually quite good at this!" Or someone gave you glowing feedback about how you approached or accomplished something?
We all have skills, experiences and knowledge that others in our professional or personal networks could benefit from. Think about it – when was the last time you answered a question and thought to yourself that others would definitely benefit from the answer?
So, what’s stopping you from capturing your message – whether in written, audio or video form – and sharing that with an audience that you know will gain value from what you have to say?
The reason is often fear. Gut-wrenching fear.
We don’t like to admit it, but the idea of sharing our expertise with others outside of our immediate network is scary. What happens if someone criticises what we say with a negative comment? Or if no-one reacts at all? Or if we post something incorrect?
I get it - we don’t like to be vulnerable in front of our peers and in fact, we’ve been programmed to associate vulnerability with weakness. But the reality is the exact opposite of this. If you haven’t watched Brené Brown’s The power of vulnerability Ted Talk, then I strongly recommend you do. She explains how vulnerability is so closely linked to courage and that underpins progress. Bottom line, being scared can be a good thing!
One of the most important life lessons I learnt from the brilliant David J Schwartz in his book The Magic of Thinking Big, is action cures fear. Do the thing that scares you and you will eventually overcome the fear. I know it sounds really simple, but it is.
But we all know, simple doesn’t mean easy...
So, I'm going to make you a promise. In a series of posts, I’m going to perform these expert interviews to break down the barriers to creating and posting content.
I won’t be using any fancy kit – just my mobile phone, laptop and a little tripod and selfie stick (you can get a 2-in-1 on Amazon for less than £8). No fancy software or gimmicks – just out-of-the-box cheap video editing tools.
And just to be clear, I’m not an expert at any of this. I’ll be learning along the way and sharing the lessons with you. Think of this as an experiment: there’s no right or wrong, just different approaches… some that will work better than others.
I’d love for you to join me on this journey! So, comment below👇🏽with a question you’d like me to get the answer for. I’ll go and find an expert and will capture the response and share it with you.

So, are you in?
Yes 😊? Then what would you like me to find an answer to?
